Ziwani Island
Naivasha's best-kept secret
Perched on a volcanic rock island on the far western shore of Lake Naivasha, Ziwani Island is the private lakeside home of the Bell family — opened to a handful of guests each year on an exclusive, all-inclusive basis.
Ziwani means “on the lake” in Kiswahili, and that is exactly how it feels. Within the glass-and-timber house you have the sense of floating above the water, with spectacular views across to Eburu, the Aberdares and Mount Longonot.
Far from the bustle of Naivasha town and the flower farms, this is a place of deep peace and ever-changing light — an easy weekend escape from Nairobi, and an ideal restful stop on the safari circuit.

The house
Stylishly designed and furnished in a contemporary, chic style, the house has six en-suite double bedrooms and sleeps up to eleven guests. Floor-to-ceiling glass opens the living spaces to the lake on every side, while timber decks step down towards the water.
Your stay is hosted by a member of the family or a professional safari guide, so that every comfort is taken care of — from sundowners on the deck to meals built around organic produce from the Ecoscapes farm.
On the water & beyond
The lake is yours to explore. Head out by boat for hippo and bird watching, put on your skis, or simply drift. Lake Naivasha is a renowned Ramsar wetland, home to more than 350 species of bird.
Climb the island’s own hill for panoramic views, or use Ziwani as a base for Hell’s Gate, Crater Lake and Mount Longonot. Days here can be as full or as unhurried as you wish.
“Thanks for a fab weekend. Luxury, scenery and sublime food.”
